The notions of invasion, contamination and domination are the framework for the installation of Chico Santos. Taken from the first phase of a three-part project, the Indian Ocean Invasion consists of scaled-down models of local architecture. It recalls the history of Reunion Island, a virgin territory whose population has increased exponentially, radically transforming the face of the island. Chico Santos' work is not defined by the simple vocabulary of artistic creation, but it is a language, a form of narration that reflects the artist's vision of the changes that the world we live in is undergoing.
